Safe Urban Driving – Manchester

FORS Safe Urban Driving (SUD) training is essential for commercial HGV and PSV drivers transporting goods or passengers in the urban domain.

The SUD course provides professional drivers with increased knowledge of other vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians, therefore improving road safety.

Split into theory and practical, this full-day course ensures all students leave with an understanding of the road risks associated with urban driving.

Why SUD?

FORS Safe Urban Driving training is Driver CPC accredited and fully aligned to meet the requirements of:

Work-Related Road Risk (WRRR)
Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Silver level
Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) Standard

Theory content:

The changing streetscape and the urban environment
Vulnerable road users and sharing the road safely
Defensive driving techniques and understand vehicle safety equipment and how to maintain its effectiveness

Practical content:

Exchanging places, driver attitude, and perception
Introduction to active travel, driver fitness, and health
Hazard recognition: understanding the issues faced by vulnerable road users

Qualification

This course qualifies as one day’s Driver CPC Training (7 hours).
